Quality Education Meeting Individual Needs

Safeguarding

The staff in our school have a responsibility to prioritise the safety and welfare of children in their care.

Operation Encompass
The school takes part in a partnership that runs jointly between schools and the Metropolitan Police Service. This is known as Operation Encompass. The Police will notify the school if a child has been exposed to, or involved in, any domestic incident. This will ordinarily be done by the start of the next school day. Operation Encompass ensures that a specially trained member of the school staff, known as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), is informed. The DSL can then use the information that has been shared, in confidence, to ensure the wellbeing of your child.
Children experiencing domestic abuse are negatively impacted by this exposure; domestic abuse has been identified as an Adverse Childhood Experience (ACEs) and can lead to emotional, physical and psychological harm.
Operation Encompass aims to mitigate this harm by enabling immediate support, making a child's day better and giving them a better tomorrow.
